International Culture Night Held at ÇAKÜ
"International Culture Night" was organized in cooperation with Çankırı Karatekin University International Student Coordination Office, ÇAKÜ Language Center and Bir Sip of Anatolian Legend Folk Dance Society, in order to introduce the cultural values of international students studying at the university and to strengthen intercultural interaction.
Çankırı Karatekin University Rector Prof. attended the event held at ÇAKÜ Uluyazı Campus Tuzluk Cafe Foyer Area. Dr. Mevlüt Karataş, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. M. Nuri Öner, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Muharrem Ovacıklı, Provincial Director of Immigration Administration Osman Karaca, International Student Association President Kasım Karatekin, university administrators, academicians and students attended.
Rector Prof. made the opening speech of the program after a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. Dr. Mevlüt Karataş stated that international students are an important value for the university and the city.
Stating that Çankırı Karatekin University has hosted more than 5 thousand international students to date, Karataş said that approximately 1200 international students from 37 different countries are currently studying at the university.
Expressing his satisfaction with international students choosing Turkey and Çankırı Karatekin University, Karataş emphasized that the people of Çankırı have embraced the students and a strong atmosphere of belonging has been created in the city.
Hoping that the students will complete their education process in the best way and return to their countries as useful individuals, Karataş stated that international students are cultural ambassadors between Türkiye and their countries.
Stating that Turkey ranks first in the world in terms of the number of international students, Karataş said that this success is an indicator of Turkey's strong position in the field of education.
Various cultural shows were staged by international students within the scope of the program. Traditional dance shows, musical performances and poetry recitals reflecting Djibouti culture were followed with interest by the participants.
Turkish and Djiboutian works performed by the students were greatly appreciated by the audience in the hall.
A representative henna night show, one of the important traditions of Turkish culture, was also staged at the event.
While the fashion show in which traditional clothes of Turkish culture were exhibited, prepared by the A Sip of Anatolian Legend Folk Dances Community, attracted great attention, international students also held a special fashion show in which they introduced clothes specific to their own countries.
The program, where different cultures met through music, dance and traditions, ended with the participants dancing halay together.
While the International Culture Night allowed students from different geographies to share their cultural heritage, it also contributed to the strengthening of intercultural friendship, solidarity and mutual understanding.
